About Us

Our Journey

NUcare Group was founded by two passionate nurses, Sara Greenwood and Danielle Shimwell, who have dedicated their lives to providing high-quality care.

With over 30 years of combined experience in the care sector, including nearly a decade working at Barnsley Hospital, they have seen firsthand the gaps in local care services and the pressures faced by both patients and staff.

Their dream of creating a nurse-led domiciliary care company came to life not through a lottery win, but through their shared vision of filling those gaps and improving care in their community. “It’s always been a passion of mine, even before I went into nursing,” says Sara. “All we’ve known is care. We’ve seen the demands on services and felt the need to do better for the people we care for.”

What began as a pipe dream quickly became a reality. In less than a month, NUcare Group was established, and the team began offering compassionate, nurse-led home care services.

Sara and Danielle’s deep understanding of the care system allows them to navigate its complexities and provide support where it’s most needed. With two registered nurses at the helm, their goal is to ease the strain on the NHS and deliver a service rooted in empathy and expertise.

Today, NUcare Group is a growing care provider in Barnsley, already earning recommendations from hospital staff and making a difference in the lives of their service users. “It’s surreal to be here, but it’s also a dream come true,” says Sara.
